And the world turns upside down...

Aug. 2nd, 2011 | 05:03 pm
mood: stressedstressed

Wow... it's been a long time LJ...  So many new things happening, so little time to tell about it... So, here's a start: Now that my novel, Shining in crimson, is about to be released in ebook format by August 15th and in paperback and hardcover I have a new blog dedicated to my fiction: Shining in Crimson: Empire of Blood Book One.  I've been doing a free audio serial of the novel since early June. Each episode includes some really awesome dark music by some amazing upcoming underground artists. And yes, of course some of my music is on there too. But if you like audiobooks and dark music what do you have to lose? Check it out! You can stream or download mp3s from the site. You can also read the first three chapters on the website as well.

"A big-scale vampire thriller that changes the rules."--Scott Nicholson, They Hunger

Set in a post apocalyptic religiously-demented American Empire, the city of Las Vegas is no longer a city of sin. Now called Necropolis, it is a city that eats sin. The vampires of Necropolis wait patiently for the Empire's weekly drop off of guilty Penitents; sinners and criminals full of fresh blood.

Hank Evans is one of those Penitents and he would gladly let the vampires take every drop of his blood if it weren’t for one detail: Toby. Toby is Hank’s only son. Now, Hank must do whatever it takes to escape the city of the dead and save his son from an Empire as bloodthirsty as the vampires it uses to keep its people in line.

I've also had a novella accepted for publication in the upcoming anthology Not in the Brochure: Stories of a Disappointing Apocalypse of which all proceeds go to help fight illiteracy. The novella is called The Quiet and is also available for the Kindle by itself for 99 cents on Amazon.com here.

James Benton might be the last man on earth. Racing to get to work, he finds random abandoned cars, smouldering pile-ups, and something even stranger. Everywhere he goes there's no grass, no people, not even a bird in the sky. Alone in a barren world, James travels west in search of someone, anyone who might have survived The Quiet.

So, that's what's been going on with me more recently not counting a huge amount of personal stuff that I may or may not post about in the near future. If you're on Goodreads.com I'm on there too, add me as a friend on there.

I am guilty of Livejournal neglect!!!!

I really need to get back in the swing of updating this thing... While Myspace has began to slowly rot into the slum of the interwebs, Facebook has really blown up this year and taken over my attention when it comes to keeping in touch with people online. Most of my really real world friends have deleted their journals or left them for dead as I have almost managed myself.

Well it's time to change that. I declare that I will try to post on Livejournal more! And when I fail utterly and miserably to accomplish this feat, I encourage those who actually believed my overconfident and ridiculously impossible promise to pummel me with large pain inflicting, metal items like pipes and monster truck rims...

With yet another Nanowrimo coming up and me being almost finished with the first draft of my first novel I suppose it is time to fill my time with even more writing commitments like livejournaling, creating greeting cards, and writing secret messages in pig latin.

Livejournal, I've come back to you and I promise you, you truly are the only social network for me! (Pay no attention to the many Facebook posts that will continue well beyond today.)

Friday the thirteenth has come to a close and already the slap-happiness begins. This weekend the kiddies stay at Grandma and Grandpa's and mom and dad get their first time off since new years (refer to new years post when car broke down on way to hotel and spent last hours of 2008 in a gas station/hunting store/pizzaria called Big Daddy's and the inside of a huge tow truck with scary tow truck guy). And no plans of course... Bah... Where are all the magical nannies and time stopping faeries in this dark bleak economy? Oh how we long for vegas....

I'm writing this from my new blackberry with lj2me. It seems to be working well. Lj2me is not a blackberry app, its actually a cell phone java app so if you have a phone that was made anytime within the last 3 or 4 years lj2me will probably work for it. You can get it by going to http://xfyre.com/lj2me.jad in your phone's browser.

In other news I've been playing around with dos like mad lately. I am finding the old dos program wordstar to be one of the greatest word processors I have ever used. It has features that modern wp's lack. And given that most of them are done with control commands and that the commands are all within the home keys, once you learn to start making use of them it makes typing faster and more logical. Anyhow. Back to learning wordstar more. And maybe even working on some writing...

Most memorable new year ever

Jan. 1st, 2009 | 06:08 pm
mood: Bah!

Dropped the kids with Jen's parents and started our quest to the hotel in Chattanooga we booked for the night. Got to about 30 miles from Chattanooga when the fuel pump went out and I was lucky enough to pull the car completely off the road before getting too close to the bridge in front of us.

Thank goodness for phone internet and a tow service that actually operates on new years eve. So were at the hotel today and the car is at a nearby shop. Jen's dad is about to pick us up and drive us back to our house. It hasn't been all bad I suppose but it still sucks real bad being stuck more than three hours from home with no working car. Not to mention the place is closed and we're gonna have to come back to pick up the car. Stupid cars.

Well... I made plans with Bobby to get together and jam this last Sunday and it actually happened. It was interesting too. We came up with part of the beginning of a song and talked about a lot of ideas as well. Come to find out he had also pretty much went into a musical black hole since the last time me and him worked on stuff (which was over the internet). Turns out me and him are more on the same page than I had originally expected. So that's good. I also have all the equipment I need to get back into mobile recording for bands... Now I just need to advertise. In other news I'm now well into the third Twilight book. I have to say if you are avoiding them because they are popular or girly or whatever, it's your loss. Their really pretty good. Elexus started reading Twilight and is about done with it. Jacob has been sick the last couple of days. He's been going through these tantrums for a while now that I really hope are just a phase or something and will hopefully pass. We'll see. I also need to get back to writing. I'm putting it off too much for working on music, which is exactly what I was afraid of... I need to find a balance... soon.

I'm testing out posting from the browser in my new blackberry since I couldn't get the lj2me to work on it. Anyhow seems to be pretty decent. I must pass out now!
